Recycling: When Garbage
Becomes Garbhage
Oh me oh my, oh dear oh my,
to my garbage what have you done?
I now must sort it four times over,
Before it was just one.
Garbage is garbage - that's easy to know -
My problem is space - where does it go?
I haven't an entry way - I haven't a hall,
In fact, I have no place for four bags at all.
It's a bag for glass - a bag for cans,
Washed and cleaned, of course,
For the untidiness at the landfill
They were the primary source.
I must present my newspapers
Tethered or bagged,
Say a prayer for the environmentalists
And my sprits that have sagged.
I've divorced the garbage from the bottles and cans,
And the newspapers are tied in a clump,
I pray that the landfill is tidy and neat,
For my kitchen sure looks like a dump!
